“I have had electrical problems from the begining, then transmission problems they have attempted to repair then replace the transmission over 6 times. This vehicle has become unreliable at this point. I am trying to go through the Ford dispute settlement board at this point but I am looking for all the help I can at this point”
NHTSA complaint #10071073, filed 2004-01, 25 miles“I have a 2001 Ford expidition with only 35000 miles on it and the transmission burned up. The repair shop said the transmission problem was common with the expidition and it was flawed in its design. It cost me $2,200 to overhall the transmission, I asked Ford to cover the repair, they said no, please help, thanks, mark.”
NHTSA complaint #10072474, filed 2004-05, 35,000 miles“I was stopped at a red light, and all of a sudden I heard this loud crash and bang, and was jerked forward. Thought the pick up truck behind me rear-ended me. That driver pulled up aside of me and told me you just dropped your driveshaft. Since it was dark and my vehicle was in the middle of the road at an intersection I called the police. When they arrived they told me we can't wait for your tow truck driver to get here, it's to dangerous, so they called another towing company. Well after a long hassle and the 1st tow of $150.00, I got my vehicle towed to my house. …”
NHTSA complaint #10524500, filed 2013-07, 127,510 miles“I am being told my Expedition transmission needs to be rebuilt. Originally (two weeks ago) was told it was a torque converter, and noticed no differece after spending $885.00. After taking car back in, I am being told transmission needs rebuilding. Total cost is $2200.00, champion Ford says Ford will pay 1700.00 I need to pay an additional $300.00. Seems odd that a transmission goes out at 44,000 miles; we don't pull or haul anything.”
NHTSA complaint #10070157, filed 2004-01, 44,000 miles“I paid $48000 for a Ford Expedition and the transmission burn up with only 35000 miles on it. The repair shop says its common with the Expedition and the design is flawed. I would like Ford to pay for the repairs, they say its not covered.”
