“While driving our 1994 Ford f250, it caught on fire. This truck was used in our business and was well taken care of with regular maintenance performed. It was a total loss along with tools and equipment used in our business. We realize this is not a recall year, but aparently there is a problem that needs to be addressed.”

NHTSA complaint #10171198, filed 2006-10

“While pulling a horse trailer, driving down a busy highway, the engine died. The battery light came and the truck stalled. Driver was able to restart the truck and get off highway safely. Right afterwards the truck died again and lost steering and braking capabilites, and coasted off the road. The truck was towed to the dealership and being repaired.”

NHTSA complaint #832609, filed 1998-12

“The tensioner has broken seven times in two years. When the tensioner breaks, the belt that operates the whole system breaks. The dealer has been contacted previously. They stated that this was a problem with the Ford trucks, but they offered no recourse. We have been very fortunate that no injury has occured due to this problem. However, it is very costly to repair every two to three months.”
