“While driving our f-450 truck pulling our 6 horse trailer, has several times, had the engine just quit while traveling down the highway at 70mph. Barely getting it off the road safely with a load of horses. Ford has repeatedly replaced injectors, which they claim being the problem, but it has recurred 3 more times. Does it take a death before the problem is remedied? This has happened 3 times previously.”
NHTSA complaint #10232266, filed 2008-06, 99,300 miles“I own seven 2004 and 2005 Ford f-550 and f-450 trucks with diesel engines that I use for my business. Everyone of these vehicles has broken down on the side of the road with the same problem-leaking head gaskets. …”
NHTSA complaint #10234500, filed 2008-07, 89,146 miles“The fuel injector controls went out at less than 15,000 miles. After that engine always ran hot. Engine buned up at less than 60,000 miles. They put a new one in and now the turbo is not operating right, truck will only pull a load at 50 MPH. All of the events listed here happened before the truck was one year old! Because of all of these faults I have missed about 2 months of work waiting on them to get it fixed. I feed my family with my truck, if it doesn't work they don't eat.”
NHTSA complaint #10169812, filed 2006-10, 53,000 miles“Tl * the contact owns a 2005 Ford f-450. While driving approximately 65-70 MPH on normal road conditions, the vehicle expelled excessive white smoke from the tail pipe. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on four separate occasions for the identical failures. The failure was contributed to the engine in which there were four replacements of the exhaust gas recirculation cooler and the turbo drain tube. In addition, the intake gaskets, high pressure oil pump, and fuel injector control module were replaced. …”
NHTSA complaint #10319261, filed 2010-03, 86,845 miles“My 2005 Ford f450 has been having starting issues. Now the problem is the vehicle stalled out while driving. Ford service has run diagnostics and said nothing is wrong with it.”
