“The steering arm broke off of my right front tire while I was driving in a parking lot. The car snapped forward and the tire was lodged in the frame. I could not move my car. My car has 59,000 miles. If this would have happened at a high rate of speed, it could have killed me.”

NHTSA complaint #11359830, filed 2020-09, 59,563 miles

“Ford notified my in march of 2020 of an open recall on the rear suspension toe link, and that I should schedule an appointment with service to have this taken care of. I took the car into the dealer (future Ford in sacramento, ca) in july of 2020 and they said they didn't have the parts yet and to try back in q3. I received a second letter in october of 2020, again stating to schedule service to have the recall work performed and was told they still did not have the parts. …”

NHTSA complaint #11406739, filed 2021-04, 80,000 miles

“I took my Ford FLEX in for a recall for the rear toe links on 1/6/21 at 55,000 miles since the recall was open for my car. Even though I was not experiencing any issues. While driving my car on may 1, the rear would sway on me and I didn't feel safe. I had the car towed to the same dealership that did the recall and they found that the toe links were faulty. That had just been replaced due to the recall. Not sure if the replacement parts for the recall are failing for everyone.”

NHTSA complaint #11416403, filed 2021-05, 56,306 miles

“While driving my 2014 Ford FLEX on sunday september 13 on hwy 684 / saw mill parkway. I hit a small pothole, which it turns out fractured the toe link, the item that was part of NHTSA recall number: 20v072 NHTSA date: feb 10, 2020 Ford recall number: 20s04. Although the car violently swerved, I was able to avoid any type of collision. Aaa towed the car back to my dealer who confirmed that the toe link did fracture. Unfortunately, when the dealer called Ford he was advised that they still do not have a fix for the recall. …”

NHTSA complaint #11355217, filed 2020-09, 130,000 miles

“In march 2020, Ford issued a safety recall of my vehicle for toe link failures, and offered to fix the car in the third quarter. This did not come soon enough for me! On may 28, I was driving north on wisconsin ave in bethesda, md near the intersection with woodmont. Abruptly, my left rear toe link failed and I lost control of the car and swerved into another lane. Fortunately I was only going about 35 MPH and there were no vehicles in the other lane. I drive a lot with my family in this vehicle at freeway speeds and this incident could have killed all of us!! …”
