“Recall # 16s30 side door latch replacement remedy was never performed on vehicle in 2016. I just purchased car on october 27, 2018 and there is a problem with the door closing which leads me to believe it is because the remedy was never performed. The vehicle was at the dealership when I discovered a problem with the door.”
NHTSA complaint #11143689, filed 2018-10, 154,465 miles“The door on the front passenger side of my 2012 Ford Focus suddenly opened while the vehicle was in motion nearly causing an accident. I was travelling on the highway at approx. 50 MPH when the front passenger side door sprung open causing the vehicle travelling next to me to swerve away. The week before the front driver side door open unexpectedly.”
NHTSA complaint #10906135, filed 2016-09, 30,750 miles“Got into my Focus as I normally do. Went to pull the door shut and it did not latch. Will not latch whether locked or unlocked. Glad it didn't fly open like I've read this happening to other people. Also glad it did not bounce back and hit my neighbors car. Very upsetting to read Ford has had this problem in over a half million of their vehicles.”
NHTSA complaint #10883154, filed 2016-07, 95,000 miles“My driver side door swung open while driveing home, luckily I wasn't on the freeway just surface streets and not too far from home, the door ajar light came on. When I got home I checked to see if maybe it was stuck in the closed position, it was not, I closed the latch and attepmted to see if it would hold and a simple pull would open it.”
NHTSA complaint #10881766, filed 2016-06, 50,000 miles“My vehicle was parked in the driveway when I opened the rear driver-side door to put my daughter in the back seat, continued to shut it, and the door would not shut. If pushed completely in, it would slowly swing open after removing my hand from the door. The door will not latch and is now being held shut using bungee cords in my backseat. This is a huge safety!!”
