“My son advised me to send this to you. Our 2001 Ford Taurus was in our garage when our garage caught fire and burned in february. There didn't seem to be any reason for the garage to burn. I was advised to let you know that the case was in the garage when the garage started to burn. We have pictures.”
NHTSA complaint #10127366, filed 2005-07, 40,000 miles“I am a owner of a 2001 Ford Taurus which I bought used and have owned it now for 2 years. It is the first Ford I have owned in over 20 years. Since I have owned it, it has not given me too many problems, just the basic break downs like, batteries, brakes ,seized A/C compressor, coolant expansion tank cracked, ect. Those things are going to break. But what has really upset me is how I have read about the coil springs breaking on the Taurus and causing possible damage to the vehicle. …”
NHTSA complaint #10219849, filed 2008-03, 147,000 miles“Dt: contact owns a 2001 Ford Taurus. The contact stated while driving at any speed vehicle stalled. The contact stated that before the engine stalled he anti-theft light illuminated. Other than this light there were no other warnings indications that the engine was going to stall. The contact stated that this did not happen every time she drove the vehicle. After waiting five or ten minutes the vehicle started again. But after driving approximately 40 minutes the vehicle will stall again. The dealership states that they could not find out what was wrong with the vehicle. …”
NHTSA complaint #10138088, filed 2005-09, 5,600 miles“Have complained to dealer/Ford motor company re: foul odor when heat is running. Was told that I probably had a high sensitivity to allergies. Complained about having to replace breaks at 15,000 miles. Had to replace oil gasket pan twice within the same year. Dealership did not find this unusual. Car accelerates without warning sometimes. The motor is making a rushing noise. Was told that this was the normal sound of the motor although it did not start until six months down the road. Had to take car back to replace back/warped windshield after having it one day. …”
NHTSA complaint #10047653, filed 2003-11, 3,500 miles“Approx. Mid-may 2008 noticed coolant smell in car and water on the passenger side floor inside 2001 Ford Taurus wagon. Within a couple of weeks, AC blower motor only worked on high. Took to sherwood Ford in salisbury, md end of may 2008 for repair. They replaced resistors to blower motor and stated problem was due to corrosion from water damage from leak in windshield/cowl. Blower worked fine until august 18, 2008 started working only on high again. …”
