“Rt frount lower controll arm assembly- from mileage of approx. 63000 to present, 112,000, the lower controll arm assembly has had to be repalced 3 times and retorked 1. I also had to pay for realignment at each repair. Now after the 3rd replacement the car shimmies and pulles to the left, which it did not do before repair. The dealer more or less told me too bad. One of the repairs was not done by Ford there for not reliable. This car has a file 2 inches thick from maintenance and repairs. There still isn't any expaination of what is causing the problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10003150, filed 2003-01, 112,424 miles

“Where do I start, this car has been a money pit from day one! The brakes had to be completely replaced 3 days after we bought the car--signature Ford claimed it was are fault after some argument they finally reimbursed us for the brakes. We discovered a small leak, we found it to be coming from the heater hose. We decided to trust signature Ford, they claimed that we needed a new heater hose, water pump and radiator. …”

NHTSA complaint #716880, filed 2000-01

“I did mention to my salesperson within 30-day warranty my concerns re: brakes, steering of vehicle, etc. But was told all was well with the vehicle. I'm still skeptical of braking and steering column. I have extended warranties but if you take it to the dealership and they constantly say nothing is wrong with your vehicle but you feel differently, what is a person to do? I'm not an expert (being a woman) but I can tell by its performance that something is wrong and needs an expert's opinion. …”

NHTSA complaint #706996, filed 1999-05

“This car has been in for recall work more than half a dozen times. The motor mounts have broken twice, the air-conditioning has been replaced twice, the head gasket and serpentine belt have blown, and the cooling fan is still not operating properly. The windshield wipers are not operating proper.ly, and the car does not steer properly. When I called the dealership - they said Ford is not responsible for repairs after the warrenty period. The dealer told me I have the same engine design as the 94 and 95 Taurus. …”

NHTSA complaint #720477, filed 2000-03

“The 1994 and 1995 Taurus and sable have been cited for head gasket failures. I have knowledge of others who have realized similar failures of their 1993 vehicle head gaskets. I feel that these failures represent a significant design flaw and a threat to vehicle safety. Obviously I have had repairs made to these components. I feel the manufacturer must be compelled to take responsibility, both legal and financial, for this design flaw. Please take action to ensure Ford embraces their responsibility in this matter. Thanks. Gf”
