Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“The engine mounts cracked and the vehicle had less than 50000 miles. Also, the consumer indicated that the station wagon version of this vehicle had a recall on it and she felt that the sedan version should too. The air condition hoses were replaced.”

NHTSA complaint #10030107, filed 2004-01, 50,000 miles

“When you unlock the doors using the electronic remote the right rear passenger door will open itself without using the handle to manually open it.this is a Ford Taurus station wagon lx model purchased in 1994. The reason I checked property damage was because a guy at a firestone tire place had the car and it poped open on him as he started the car and didn't know of the problem and the door opened wide as he was taking the car out of the repair shop. The door will also open as you turn the car off and it unlocks all the doors. …”

NHTSA complaint #10083026, filed 2004-07, 146,000 miles

“I am reporting this because I don't feel I should be penalized for a faulty headgasket being put in the vehicle. I have to pay because I drive carefully and mostly highway miles and was able to keep the part working until I was over the mileage mark. Secondly I was not informed when the 7/98 notice came out so I could not have the vehicle checked out. I moved here in july of 1998. Ending the plan 5 months later before I could even get to a garage to find out was not the best option either. A faulty part is a faulty part. I should not have to pay for Ford's attempt to save a buck or two.”

NHTSA complaint #710609, filed 1999-08

“While driving air conditioningjust quit working without warning. Took vehicle to dealer, and they said that fluid was low. Dealer filled vehicle up and started working again. Then it quit. Consumer stated it was the o-rings that failed.”

NHTSA complaint #865852, filed 2000-07

“Air conditioner blower fan was making noises at low speed. Replaced by dealer under warranty, then after warranty expired, component failed again. Also, driver's side door latch failed, door would not close at all.”

NHTSA complaint #523269, filed 1997-09
