Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“No heat; temp guage problems. Called Ford and they said they would not cover. We were never notified of recall. Car bought from an individual not a dealer. So maybe that is why we never received a recall. Apparently this problem is a common one. (tiresize: 15)( DOT number: tire size: 15 )”

NHTSA complaint #739103, filed 2001-01

“Windshield wipers do not respond when needed. Many close calls due to windshield not being able to be properly cleaned. Numerous attempts will cause wipers to turn on. Occurs any season of the year. Heavy rain and snow have caused near misses due to not being able to clear windshield. They are intermittent wipers. I am reporting this now becuase I found this site. I did not contact dealer because I did not know exactly who to contact.”

NHTSA complaint #711655, filed 1999-09

“After driving a Ford Taurus for the last 11 years (1985 & 1994) I have discovered that both cars have simular problems. My 1994 Taurus is inoperative due to a transmission failure. My previous Taurus had the same problem. As of today the car won't move. The rear defroster failed in both vehicals. They both always seemed to have problems with the rotors. The factory alarm has been a chore since day one and the automatic locks make this awful sound. On march 26, 1999 I will send a letter of complaint to Ford motor company starting at the dealership and working my way up from there.”

NHTSA complaint #704790, filed 1999-03

“Windshield wipers and washers were working intermittently. Currently, they are not working at all. Dealer/manufacturer were notified. The windshield wipers and washer failed due to design flaw. Consumer wants the manufacturer to fix the problem at their expense.”

NHTSA complaint #8003532, filed 2002-02

“Windshield wipers will became stuck in one position and failed to move from that position every time windshield wiper switch was turned on. Dealership has yet to examine vehicle for this defect. Please provide any additional information/attachments.”
