“I was on the expressway the car reduced speed, until it stopped which almost made someone run into the back of me. The windshield blades do not function, the interior lights will not come on all the time. Ive taken my car to several shops they were not able to tell me what's wrong with the vehicle stating the problem does not show up on the diagnostic machine. I am to the point of being afraid of driving my car, I never know when or if it will function properly.”

“I have a 03 Taurus which leaked water onto the passenger floor board also causing my AC blower motor to short out. I could not get Ford to act even though a related recall existed under 03v087000. I have found many others with this problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10233072, filed 2008-07, 43,000 miles

“Cowl leak on 2006 Ford Taurus which allows water leak in on passenger side to contact electrical parts including HVAC blower motor and resistor. Blower can stop working and if windows are fogged or need to be defrosted it creates a very hazardous condition impossible to correct. I am told by dealerships this is very common with the Taurus'. If it is so common why don't they (Ford) publicize this or tell you this before you buy a Taurus?”

NHTSA complaint #10241247, filed 2008-09, 37,000 miles

“My husband was driving my 2006 Ford Taurus to work one crisp fall morning, when all of the sudden he heard a loud sound that he at first thought to be a gunshot. What had happened was that the rear window glass had shattered all on its own. After further inspection he noticed that one of the little black heaters that are connected to the glass to work the rear defogger coils was melted to a piece of glass. …”

NHTSA complaint #10643471, filed 2014-10

“Since I bought this car the windshield wipers have been a problem in very hard rains or heavy snowstorms. They drivers side windshield wiper would catch onto the other one and get snagged. I would have to pull off to the side of the road and untangle them and sometimes drive real slow bending over to look out of the passengers side window. This would happen off and on during hard rains or heavy snowstorms. This year was the worst. …”
