“The vehicle was in motion on a city street, when the vehicle completely powered off. The steering wheel locked. This occurred on 11/22/2020 and 11/23/2020. The following message is on my dashboard 'steering assist is reduced drive with care.'”
NHTSA complaint #11375999, filed 2020-11, 64,000 miles“. The engine mounted mechanical vacuum pump may decrease over time decreasing the amount of vacuum/ power brake assist, causing vehicle not to stop. Same as my 2016 Gmc. I had to also have the ( evap control valve replaced). Transmission surges and on the down shift its knocking coming tyo a stop. .in my rear ending a parked vehicle because of the brakes pulsating and not stoping scared me. .dealership. .dealership .no”
NHTSA complaint #11446052, filed 2022-01“Cold start after vehicle sits for a while vehicle shark bites and stutters. When you try and drive vehicle before it’s been warmed up significantly. It’s a safety concern because it feels very danger and could cause an accident. Alamo At caused my truck to stall out the other day with my children in it and a large accident. Dealership is dismissed my concern and says it’s normal gmc defects that I have to deal with. I will sue GMC if I have to.”
NHTSA complaint #11478493, filed 2022-08“Gear slipping since I’ve had the truck. Replaced parts of motor, new transmission installed and still gear slipping entering the second gear. A big jolt happens every time I accelerate and when I slow down about the 10 mph mark it jolts again. Spent well over $10,000 on major truck repairs. I just don’t understand how this truck has 0 recalls. My truck is similar to all of the v8 Sierras of that year and I strongly feel it should have been recalled due to the gears slipping and not enough power.”
NHTSA complaint #11677376, filed 2025-07“On Friday, December 6, 2024, my “check engine light” illuminated on my 2017 GMC Sierra pickup. The engine is the gasoline version of the 5.3 liter. I took my truck to Brogden Buick/GMC in Olathe, KS. They informed me the trouble code was 219a, indicating there was a problem with the fuel/air ratio. On Monday, December 9, 2024, I was contacted and informed the fuel injectors needed to be replaced at a cost of approx. $2700. Based upon research I’ve conducted GM’s fuel injectors have been a service concern since approximately 2014. …”
