“I recently purchased a 1996 Honda Civic with a manual transmission. The cruise control works only intermittently, and usually it does not work. At times when going over 40 MPH on the rare occasion that I have gotten the cruise control to work, it just clicks off by itself. I am disabled and must have cruise control when driving for any significant period of time. I need to know if there is a fix for this.”

“I owned a 1996 Honda Civic ex, bought it new. I was in an accident on june 13th of 1998. It was considered my fault because I pulled out into the path of the other vehical. But I didn't, the car took off I could not get it to stop. ..I tryed to get it out of the way of the other car. But was unable to move out of the way.which ended up in an accident totaling my car, and hurting my back! I still to this day suffer with my back. I was not told about the recall on my car. I don't think its very fare I've had to suffer all this time and was not told about this problem with my car. …”

NHTSA complaint #10052545, filed 2004-01, 70,000 miles

“Using cruise control, set cruise at 60mph. Cruise control worked fine. Applied foot to accelerator. Car continued to accelerate after removing foot. Applied brake and cruise control did not release. Applied clutch and engine continued to increase rotations per minute (RPM). I believe that engine RPM must have hit a threshold then disengaged.”

“Accessory driver-side floor mats used in 1996-1998 Honda Civic vehicles. Due to the shape of the floor on these vehicles, a mispositioned floor mat could interfere with the accelerator pedal. The car is in motion. K60”
