“Issue happens whenever I use adaptive Cruise control for any extended period of time. Typically occurs in less than an hour. The vehicle will be in active cruise mode and then the cruise control will suddenly shutoff and a few beeps are heard. I am unable to reactivate cruise control until I perform a key cycle at which point the cruise can be activated again.”

NHTSA complaint #11732022, filed 2026-04

“Twice now when driving on the highway using cruise control my vehicle has unexpectedly applied the brake hard for no apparent reason. There were not vehicles ahead of me that were stopping/slowing. The warning brake comes across the dashboard. This potentially could cause a safety issue if someone were to rear-end me when the brakes were applied suddenly and hard. I am in the process of contacting the dealer to have the issue addressed.”

NHTSA complaint #11508273, filed 2023-02

“Cruise control beeps and turns off by itself and doesn't come back on. Has been happening for months. I took it in to dealer and the said everything was fine and it is not and my warranty had now expired.”

NHTSA complaint #11643324, filed 2025-02

“As driving down the interstate. My car was on adaptive cruise as well as lane assist. It was like a nightmare! The car took total control. Throwing me from right to left to right to left and finally into a concrete barrier. The vehicles suspension on the drivers side both front and back failed. It was a nightmare you could not wake up from. I could have easily rolled the car over. And easily hit other vehicles. No warning lights or anything was on before the incident.”

NHTSA complaint #11527121, filed 2023-06

“My cruise control shut itself off during interstate driving with a car behind me. This seems to be a widespread issue per owner forums for the 11th generation 2022 model Civics of all varieties. I did not have the driver attention system on, was driving at night, and was not using adaptive cruise control. I have not gone to a dealership yet because per others’ experiences it has been a waste of time. I am calling to let my dealer know of the issue and have them tell me when there is a solution. …”
