“The car was parked in a safe location over night. When I attempted to start it in the morning the car ran poorly and displayed numerous warning light on the dash including evap control, brakes, steering, and various automated systems. Upon calling the dealer I was told to it was not safe to drive and to have it towed to the dealer. Which I did.”

“I have less than 2000 miles on a new Honda Civic Ex and the emission systems problem warning light has come on and it says power may be reduced and see your dealer. Took to dealer and they think it is with the fuel cap but cannot get parts since it is too new. Everything I read indicates it is serious and needs immediate attention. Do not know what to do.”

NHTSA complaint #11498393, filed 2022-12

“Fuel efficiency exceptionally poor. Owned for over 1.5 years with 8500+ miles accumulated, rarely met published ratings. Achieved 280 miles per tank, roughly 23/24 mpg average. Driving style adjusted with no effect. Several others who owned the LX and Sport trims manufactured at the Canadian facility in 2021, we came to the conclusion that our Civics are likely part of the same manufacture error/deficiency that caused such poor fuel efficiency.”

NHTSA complaint #11515896, filed 2023-04

“The 2022 Honda Civic (Sport) with approx. 13,000 miles had been driving fine for the previous 10 minutes, on and off the highway, when I was almost home and on a more residential 25-30mph road. All of a sudden all of the warning lights went off on the dashboard at once, so I went to brake to slow down and pull over. But the brakes were completely failing - the pedal would just hit the back of the foot well. The emergency brake is electronic, so that wouldn't work either. I was lucky to be immediately next to a grocery store parking lot, so I roll into that. …”

NHTSA complaint #11720872, filed 2026-02

“While driving steam started to appear from the engine bay. I pulled over to inspect, lifted up the hood and could hear the fuel line popping and gasoline hissing out. The engine bay spontaneously caught fire. As it ignited all of the gasoline in the air combusted and created a ball of fire in my face as I was looking in the engine bay. The fire was put out by the fire department. An incident report was created. The potential for safety risk was high and could have been worse if I was not on a road where I was able to stop or if it caught fire while I was inside the car. …”
