“I leased a Honda Civic 2012-2015 , in 2015 I bought the Civic that I had leased for 3 years. In 2018 I started to notice the paint was looking dull in certain spots and starting to show a white ring like I dumped salt for melting ice all over it. I took it to the dealer and was told I missed the extended warranty on getting my Civic painted and that I was notified by mail about the paint issue. I never received any notice from anyone regarding the paint coming off of my car. …”
NHTSA complaint #11310404, filed 2020-02, 80,000 miles“I am just documenting that this vehicle has a real glare problem due to size and slant of windshield. The entire image of the dash appears on the windshield and the glare is very distracting while driving. I'm sure Honda has tried to deal with this issue due to the matte finish on the dash, but it isn't working. I feel like I've made one of the biggest mistakes in buying this vehicle. I hope I don't run someone over, lost in the glare.”
NHTSA complaint #10460969, filed 2012-06, 104 miles“I was driving a 2012 Honda Civic when the car in front of me slammed on their brakes and came to a complete stop due to something in the road. I slammed on my brakes and tried to avoid the car in front of me by swerving to the right. The driver side of the front of my car hit the back of the car in front of me. My car was completely smashed in the front. Air bags did not deploy. After I came to a complete stop, my car lit on fire. The car was burned and completely destroyed.”
NHTSA complaint #10669091, filed 2014-12, 53,000 miles“While driving on i5 headed south to medford, or on june 6, 2014, at around 9:30 pm I struck what appeared to be a small refrigerator which was laying on the highway. There was what appeared to be minor damage to the bumper of the 2012 Honda Civic that I was driving. The sensors for the airbag system were triggered, but the air bags did not deploy. Upon taking the vehicle to the Honda dealership to get repairs, we learned that the harness for the air bag system had been severed.”
NHTSA complaint #10614856, filed 2014-07, 25,083 miles“Car clear coat is coming off on the trunk and roof in multiple locations. In areas where the clear coat is gone, the paint is now coming off. Vehicle is a 2012 Honda Civic purchased new in 2011. The problem first started in 2018 approximately 2 months after extended paint warranty expired. I contacted Honda customer service and they would not cover the repair costs and said there was no known paint defect for my vehicle year/model. The paint is degrading at an alarming rate. The problem started when the vehicle was 7 years old. The problem is not consistent with normal wear and tear. …”
