“Yhe weatherproofing strips of all my windows are melting and coming off. One already did. I dont live in a very hot city. Im afraid it will allow water to leak in door and get to electronics and mess up window function. If window goes out you wouldnt be able to roll window down if an emergency arises which would be a major safety hazard. An a rank in the automotive industry”

NHTSA complaint #11206970, filed 2019-05, 139,800 miles

“Abnormal cracked and peeling paint on the hood, roof and trunk. Honda is aware of this problem and issued an extension but has never provided a notification to owners affected by this known issue. I am now one year past due and only found out there was an issue when my local body shop advised me to call.”

NHTSA complaint #11051172, filed 2017-11, 89,000 miles

“Paint defects on hood, trunk and front 2 quarter panels, clear coat is flaking off. This is a known issue to Honda. I decided to take my vehicle to the dealer to see if there was a recall. Dealer stated there was a warranty extension for this issue but that it expired 7 months ago. I was never notified of this, is there anything that can be done? A quick google check shows that paint issues are a huge problem for Honda.”

NHTSA complaint #11044892, filed 2017-11, 75,000 miles

“The paint began to fail and I contacted Honda's website as directed to find all issues (recall and TSB - technical service bulletins) and there were no items. From 2015 on we would check. Then I found an article that said it was covered under an extended paint warranty. I was never contacted. I called Honda and they declined to fix it saying that I purchased it used. They gave me a $7000 quote to fix the car. They said because I bought it used, they did not have to contact me. The entire car has clearcoat failure leading to paint failure. …”

NHTSA complaint #11204809, filed 2019-04, 45,000 miles

“Problem with the Honda Civic paint job. My 2006 I bought with 18000 miles already had the paint bubbling up below the clear coat in the roof and hood and trunk, just bought a 2010 new and just noticed two or three spots beginning to form already, will take it to the dealer so it can be documented that came like that from the factory, googled the problem and it seems to be prevalent on the Honda civics.”
