NHTSA complaint #11350591, filed 2020-08, 112,000 miles

“I noticed in the spring of 2014 that the paint on the roof of the car was fading quickly and significantly. Then, last month (march 2015,) I noticed the clear coat is cracked and peeling off completely on the right rear bumper and the trunk. There have been no incidents to warrant this type of damage, so I suspect it's a factory defect.”

NHTSA complaint #10715979, filed 2015-05, 90,000 miles

“The bracket the holds the alternator and is connected to the engine block snapped while I was driving on a city street. I lost power steering and the belt came off. The alternator was just dangling. From what I understand, this is a known problem with this model vehicle and it seems to be a serious design flaw.”

NHTSA complaint #10936587, filed 2016-12, 145,000 miles

“I would like to report a complaint with Honda corporation. There was a warranty issued for 2008 Honda civics that covered an issue with paint chalking, cracking, and clouding. I was never notified of the warranty and they cannot confirm what home address the warranty notification was sent to....if at all.. Lack of communication from Honda corporation is a clear gap in internal processes.”

NHTSA complaint #10821340, filed 2016-01, 75,000 miles

“2008 Honda Civic, paint color gold is faded on hood, roof and truck. This car in not old enough to look like it is ten years old! I have waxed it to help prevent peeling of paint but does not help. This year I also had to have my engine replace by Honda (at their cost) for a cracked head. Very disappointed in Honda.”
