Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“The tire was flat for no apparent reason and we pulled into a uhaul location where they filled air and apparently no air was leaking. However, we took the vehicle into costco tire center since the michelins were purchased there and they examined and said the rims were damaged . There is no visible damage from outside but according to them, the air leaks from the inside in the rim and the tire has been flat again. We thought it is the valve but even after valve replacement, its the same issue. This has happened before but we had a valve changed then too and it worked apparently. …”

“Flat tire was observed. The stock steel rims and tire were examined. A crack was discovered along the seam of the rim leaking air looking at it from the axle perspective. I've had friends with similar problems with the crv rims.”

“Vehicle tires losing air due to defect in seam of rim. This occurred on two of my car's tires and rims. Costco auto repair personnel advised that there is a hole in the seam (of the rim) which is causing air to leak out of the tire.”

“Passenger rear trailing arm broke off from body mount. Vehicle is still available for inspection. Coming to a stop sign and car came to an abrupt stop. Something had stopped the car before I even got to the stop sign. Coming down to the stop sign car began to lost steering and swayed back and forth. Car is in very good condition has 138,100 miles on it. But now it can,t be driven cant be fixed and be safe. Still books for $3200.00. Our family was left vulnerable to a horrible accident if going any faster when this happened. Broke down on a back road at 10:30 p.m. close to a stop sign. …”
