“When driving on the highway at around 76 mph, the vehicle suddenly presents power loss and won't accelerate nor rev even if I step into the pedal all the way (No light in the dashboard). Going in the high speed lane, I had to stop in the shoulder lane and turn off the vehicle. After turning it on again, a couple of minutes later the problem was back. This would be the third time I have had the problem. …”

NHTSA complaint #11597428, filed 2024-06

“I am reporting a transmission failure in my 2022 Honda HR-V at approximately 129,000 miles. While driving on the interstate highway at normal speed, the vehicle suddenly began revving excessively without accelerating. The engine RPM increased, but the vehicle failed to maintain proper speed or respond as expected. This occurred without any prior warning signs or indicators. Shortly after, the vehicle continued to have issues where it would shift into gear but not properly move or engage. All dashboard warning lights became illuminated following the incident. …”

NHTSA complaint #11726506, filed 2026-03

“On Thursday, July 30, 2026, while driving my 2022 Honda HR-V at approximately 70 mph in the fast lane of the highway, my vehicle suddenly, without warning lost all power. The speedometer immediately dropped to 0 mph, and the vehicle would not accelerate despite pressing the accelerator. There were no warning lights illuminated before the incident, and the vehicle had shown no previous signs of transmission problems or drivability issues. This created an extremely dangerous situation because I was traveling at highway speed in the passing lane with surrounding traffic. …”

NHTSA complaint #11754134, filed 2026-08

“The transmission is making a growling sound, also while driving at time when go to accelerate faster on freeway it stays where it's at even if you push pedal all the way down. Took to Honda dealer they acknowledge something is wrong with transmission but don't know what, so they want me to wait until a light comes on and to bring it back. I called Honda Corp but they were no help at all. Told them I was only 2500 miles from being out of warranty and if they could extend the warranty but was told no, but they would note about the problem. …”

NHTSA complaint #11582363, filed 2024-04

“I bought the car at the dealership with 50,000 miles on it and purchased an extended warranty as well. I drive for a living with this car and after a few months noticed it would rev high before shifting. When I brought it back to the dealership they did something to it but did not say what. It smelled like they put catalyst cleaner in it though not confirmed. I then had the issue again and the car smelled like burning rubber. I took it to a honda dealership and had the transmission fluid as well as the rear differential fluid changed but they did could not find any issues. …”
