“I purchased this van from a dealership. I was told it was in great condition, no problems, no recalls. The transmission completely failed in less than thirty days. I was driving on a highway when transmission failed, I was lucky enough to get pulled off to the side of the road. Honda needs to pay to replace all of these transmissions before someone is seriously injured or worse, killed. I'm now trying to look into different estimates to have the transmission completely rebuilt.”
NHTSA complaint #10731263, filed 2015-06, 184,000 miles“The car slowed down and would not accelerate. The engine lights and other lights came on. The mechanic has informed me that I will need to have the transmission replaced. Again for the 3rd time. And this after having the transmission flushed in february of 2013. The transmission had to be replaced in 2007, 2011 and now 2013. I had to pay out of pocket for the 2011 and now they say for the 2013. There is something wrong with the vehicle that the transmissions are failing so soon. The first two times the vehicle completely stopped in traffic.”
NHTSA complaint #10534006, filed 2013-08, 210,000 miles“The 2001 Honda Odyssey started having problems of stalling while driving on 01/15/10. When the problem occurred again on 01/20/10, we brought it to a Honda dealer for examination. The dealer had it for nine days until 01/29/10 but was unable to make a diagnosis. On 01/29/10, we took the vehicle back. On 02/03/10 and 02/04/10, the stalling recurred so we brought it back to the same dealer. Now, having been unsuccessful to make a diagnosis, the dealer notified us that they would not make any more attempts to repair the vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #10306141, filed 2010-02, 88,000 miles“For the past 2 years we have been experiencing a raw gas smell in the cabin of our 2001 Honda Odyssey. We have taken it in consistently over this time. They smell it too but can't find it. We have paid to have repaired everything they have said it was and the problem continues. Google shows about 4800 posts for the same problem. Honda of america says they are done looking for the problem and says too bad. The smell lasts about 2-4 minutes and happens sometimes every day, sometimes twice a week and sometimes will skip a couple of weeks. …”
NHTSA complaint #10262929, filed 2009-03, 65,000 miles“I drive a 2001 Honda Odyssey and I have 50,000 miles. Now I have to replace my gas tank and alternator. When I call the manufacture they say I had to drive the car to a dealer my car was already at a repair shop. Tank was broken in half and all my gas was leaking. I had been driving around for who knows how long with this problem I drive four children at all times. When I was going to purchase this van, I did a lot of research and I choose this vehicle because it was the most reliable car. …”
