“2022 Ridgeline's Auto Idle Engine Off/On activated while driving/moving. This week it occurred (Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024) on I95 in Virginia when going down hill at approximately 70 mph. The engine ceased without warning and the steering and brake pedal began to freeze up when I had eased off the gas to coast briefly down hill (in order to keep in the flow of traffic). I then gave it gas, pumping the pedal, and a couple of seconds later it recovered and started up; the Truck’s starter buzzed loudly as it restarted. …”

“Equipment did not malfunction, but it behaved in a way that was not expected. Equipment available for inspection upon request. The actuation pressure of the shifter buttons is too high. Occasionally a full press on the reverse or drive buttons doesn’t shift the transmission into the expected drive mode. I pressed the reverse button, and expected the vehicle to shift to reverse, but when I applied gas it rolled forward. I was able to react quickly enough to stop the vehicle from colliding with my garage door. …”

NHTSA complaint #11456463, filed 2022-03

“Issue: transmission would not shift from 1st gear. After running an errand, started vehicle, reversed from parking place, pressed D/S button and proceeded to street entrance. After waiting a bit, I merged onto street and accelerated, but transmission would not shift from 1st gear; engine was running a very high RPM. Traffic behind me moved to inside lane to avoid my vehicle. I released accelerator and transmission shifted to slightly higher gear but would not shift again. Engine RPM was still very high at low vehicle speed. …”

NHTSA complaint #11475676, filed 2022-07

“Experienced delayed then hard shift into gear when starting from stop this caused the vehicle to sit in road for extended time then lurch forward when it finally went into gear. Also while driving heard a noise then completely lost power and there was no throttle response for 10-20 seconds. This has happened multiple times while driving on busy highway and while trying to change lanes causing the vehicle to slow down considerably before throttle re-engaged.”

NHTSA complaint #11648745, filed 2025-03

“2022 Honda Ridgeline with 22,000 miles failed to auto restart at a traffic light. Driver had to manually restart the vehicle. Other drivers were forced to drive around at the intersection. No error codes were present on OBD2 connector.”
