Example complaints

One per model year, chosen for length and detail. Personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

2004: “When my motorcycle reached 8,000 miles it had a high speed whine, when I had a new tire installed , I found the rear wheel bearings were in pieces. I now have 18,000 miles on it and again the bearings are out. I believe there is a problem that Honda knows about . If one of these motorcycles has a bearing lock up at highway speeds it could be fatal.”

NHTSA complaint #10230882, filed 2008-06, 8,000 miles

2003: “Flange bearing worn at only 11,000 miles...luckily I had to replace the rear tire for a 1200 mile trip I was getting ready to take or else it could of made for a really bad trip for something that I believe shouldn't happen after only this many miles...spent 35 bucks and got them replaced..”

NHTSA complaint #10386522, filed 2011-03, 11,000 miles

2002: “The flange bearing on the rear wheel failed. The bearing was rough and very hard to turn. Many, many metal shavings were found in the rear hub assembly. These shavings were from the bearing. The problem was found when installing a new tire. The dealership replaced the entire flange assembly. They only charged me labor, did not charge me for the part. They are a very, very good dealership.”

NHTSA complaint #10137695, filed 2005-09, 26,628 miles
