Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Our 2007 H3 had cracked radiator with hose leaking coolant causing the overheating. We have never driven the vehicle off-roading and no warning light was displayed for this issue. Instead, we brought it in for a different issue with the fuel line and discovered the cracked radiator, which could have caused a bigger problem if it had gone undiscovered for longer period of time.”

NHTSA complaint #10779356, filed 2015-10, 97,000 miles

“I stopped at gas station for fuel. Vehicle would not start for approximately 10 minutes after fueling up. Then it started. Apparently this is a wide spread problem with the Hummer, as I have read a number of incidents reported on line with same issue.”

NHTSA complaint #11105257, filed 2018-07, 127,250 miles

“On 3/13/2020 my wife was driving our 2007 Hummer H3 when the engine compartment and dash area caught on fire. The blower motor connector module had been replaced recently as part of a safety recall. The vehicle was in motion and she had just made a left turn. Although the part had been replaced, I still believe that this recall issue was the cause of said fire. The fire department called it an electrical issue. There was no warning at all. This was traumatic for my wife she had to jump out of the vehicle and had a miscarriage.”

NHTSA complaint #11391170, filed 2021-02, 110,000 miles

“I don't know why I have to wait 10 min.before the truck will start this is crazy and no one wants to fix the issue.I have had it to 2 different dealers and they say its all the Hummer h3s that this problem is in the computer and will cost me over $800 to fix thats crazy this should be put for recall not good business I have children that if theres an emergancy my Hummer wont start. Really GM get it together this happenes all the time and half the time I have to wait 20 to 30 min for it to start”

NHTSA complaint #11121746, filed 2018-08, 135,000 miles

“My vehicle has a very common issue with a faulty resistor/wiring harness on the blower motor. There is a safety recall for the same problem on other GM trucks & vehicles and the problem is widely known/reported on the internet. For some reason GM refuses to issue/fix this recall for the Hummer H3? The problem causes the wiring to get so hot to melt the insulation, which could cause a fire. I park my vehicle in an attached garage.”
