“I was driving down the roadway and heard a loud noise that sounded like an impact followed by the sound of glass cracking. The panoramic sunroof suddenly shattered. I was confused because I had not gone under an over pass and there were no trucks in front of me to launch a rock in my direction. I thought maybe something had fallen out of the sky from an airplane or something. It was very frightening!”
NHTSA complaint #11564359, filed 2024-01“While driving to our vacation destination, we head a very loud pop from the roof area. We found a place to pull over and realized that there was a huge hole in our sunroof glass. Nothing hit the car while driving, it just spontaneously exploded upward and shattered the area around it. There was broken glass all over the sunroof area. Nothing had come into contact with it. It just exploded upward and shattered.”
NHTSA complaint #11602029, filed 2024-07“I was stopped at a stop sign with my foot firmly on the brake and vehicles engine starting revving. Next was stopped at my mailbox with the foot firmly on the brake and engine started revving again. Next, I was pulling into my garage and had just taken my foot off of the brake and engine revved again, this time propelling me into my garage wall. I have a video of the car pulling into the garage and you can hear the car accelerate.”
NHTSA complaint #11702723, filed 2025-12“The front sunroof on our 2023 Hyundai Palisade shattered without any impact and caused a huge explosive sound. When we went outside the car to see if there was any rock or debris, there was no sign of any rocks or debris which caused the front sunroof of our car to shatter. The glass from the shattered sunroof could have possibly hurt us seated in the front seat or could have injured our one year old and six year old kids seated in the middle row.”
NHTSA complaint #11748412, filed 2026-07“Suv turned itself off in traffic. I had it towed to dealership and they told me that they couldn't fund anything wrong. The suv could not accelerate in traffic three weeks ago. Had to turn on side road from traffic. Suv has been at dealership for three weeks no progress.”
