“I've had to replace 3 door handles, transmission, lick seat belt, sunroof motor, since buying this car. It is 9 years old and the seals on the doors are going bad. Air and pests are getting in the car. And the noise level is horrible. I was told 2 weeks ago that the rattling I keep hearing is the universal joints and frame and will cost about $1000 to fix. Car was ok until it just hot 100000 mile mark.”

Thank you”

NHTSA complaint #10563785, filed 2014-02, 72,000 miles

“Passenger side rear door handle was broken (tear off) when my 11 year old kid opened the door while it is in my garage. Looks like to me door handles made with inferior material. I would like to bring this issue to your notice. Hyundai should replace the parts and labor at free of cost. I have preserved the broken door handle part.”

NHTSA complaint #10621050, filed 2014-08, 54,500 miles

“I purchased a used 2010 Hyundai Sonata gls.one year ago with 60,000 miles on it. In this time I have had 3 different plastic door handles break off when trying to open the car doors. Each incident costing me $200.00. For a total of $600.00. With no reimbursement from Hyundai. They said it wasn't a problem and were not responsible. There should be a recall on this.”

NHTSA complaint #10535533, filed 2013-08, 61,000 miles

“2010 Hyundai Sonata. The rear passenger driver side door handle just snapped off. I went to open the door in a normal fashion and the handle stayed in the open position so I had to push it back in to the closed position. When I pulled on the handle again the handle fell off in my hand. The rear door never did open, now I need to reach through the driver side door to open the rear door from the inside.”
