“It started with random electrical/wiring problems. Radio volume, AC suddenly stops working, then starts again, etc... Now it starts or doesn't start at random. When it doesn't start, I wait a few minutes to an hour, then it randomly starts without any battery jump or other assistance. Local mechanics are not able to diagnose this issue but tell me it is a common problem with these cars”

NHTSA complaint #11394862, filed 2021-02, 90,000 miles

“Sun shade failure on panoramic roof. I was driving and decided to open the sunroof, I heard a loud popping noise. The shade came off track and would not roll up. Sunroof opened up like normal, I immediately pulled not very safe with the excess hanging material blocking visibility. $900+ repair at the dealer.”

NHTSA complaint #11416733, filed 2021-05, 125,000 miles

“I was leaving a parking lot and my gear shift would not move, I had to put a pair of scissors in the shift lock so it would move, then my brake lights went out. I havent had it fixed yet. My engine blew also a few years ago, I had that fixed but I should not be having issues like this. It may be the brake light switch or the shifter cable”

NHTSA complaint #11183450, filed 2019-03, 65,000 miles

“The top of the dashboard cracked about 18 inches. Our Hyundai service rep said it was caused by the airbags under the dashboard expanding from the heat. Hyundai should replace the dashboard, obviously made of faulty material. Our rep said it would cost us $1,000.00. I'm afraid that airbags will crack it completely in half and then the car would not be drivable.”

NHTSA complaint #11255711, filed 2019-09, 19,934 miles

“The glass sunroof exploded for no reason.. I was driving 9/5/18 about 5pm, no one in front of me, nothing overheads, and I heard a loud sound (like a bullet) didn't see anything around me, the windshield looked fine, but the glass sunroof had shattered. Thank goodness the inside roof liner was closed and the shattered glass did not fall on my face or into my car.”
