“I first noticed white smoke coming from the back of my SUV. I pulled into a store parking lot and tried to park. My main brakes failed. I then tried using my emergency brake. It too failed. White smoke started coming through the vents so I turned them away from me and tried shifting to park with no success. I then pressed the main brake again and was able to shift to park. Then someone in the parking lot yelled, your car's on fire! Get out! I grabbed my keys, cell phone and work badge and as I was getting out, black smoke began filling the cabin. …”
NHTSA complaint #11190038, filed 2019-03, 121,000 miles“UNKNOWN. Since I purchase this vehicle in 2010, the backup camera does not always work. I took it in to the dealership and they stated that in order to diagnose it, it must happen while I am there. At this time, the backup camera only works sometimes and it is not safe to back up. Is there a manufacturer recall?”
NHTSA complaint #11526787, filed 2023-06“Yesterday, my wife car, suddenly started to sharply to the right, when her hold on steering wheel relaxed. I tested it. It is not an alignment problem. It is a sudden and obvious taking over of the steering by the car. I took it to my mechanic. He told me that he and none of his certified mechanics have ever seen this problem, and did not know what was wrong and I should contact Hyundai as perhaps there was a recall or service bulletin on this condition. I did that, but was told that I would have to bring it there to be diagnosed. My concern is not so much for my car. …”
NHTSA complaint #11426713, filed 2021-07“After having a service on my 2010 Hyundai Tucson, 2 days later the ESC indicator light came on, and the dbc indicator light came on, and the shifter was hard to put into gear. Took it in and they changed the shifter. About 2 weeks later the same two lights came on again, only this time when you pressed on the gas the RPM would shoot up but the car wouldn't move, and the brakes were locked. The car was towed and the map sensor was changed. When I was told the car was fixed I came in to test drive the car and the check engine light was on. I did not take the car. …”
NHTSA complaint #10405822, filed 2011-06“While driving under normal conditions, the panoramic sunroof glass suddenly shattered without warning. There was no impact from road debris, no prior cracking, and no abnormal use of the sunroof. The failure occurred spontaneously and created a safety hazard due to falling glass and the risk of driver distraction or injury. This vehicle is equipped with the factory panoramic roof that has been the subject of a prior class action lawsuit and Hyundai Technical Service Bulletin 19-BD-007H (Panoramic Roof Moving Glass Warranty Extension, code TXXE). …”
