“My vehicle would no longer accelerate in traffic causing me to almost get hit in the rear of the vehicle. I could do nothing but coast and brake. All gears became highlighted which were not previously. I am worried if this continues to happen I will be in an accident. This seems to be a common encounter among Jeep owners but there is no recall.”
NHTSA complaint #10956759, filed 2017-02, 145,000 miles“I was driving down the freeway and the engine down shifted hard and the engine light came on. I pulled over, turned my vehicle off, turned my vehicle back on, and it drove just fine. I went to get the engine light checked and the code that came back was the map sensor. I just replaced the map sensor two months prior.”
NHTSA complaint #11022719, filed 2017-09, 137,000 miles“I was driving on the freeway and all of a sudden the engine light turned on and my rpms dropped to zero. I pulled over, the power steering went out and the ability to brake went out. I turned the vehicle off and on and then it was fine, however, the engine light was still on. There were no codes when I went to a mechanic five minutes after the incident. This is the second time this has happened.”
NHTSA complaint #11001361, filed 2017-06, 134,000 miles“This morning I was driving into work, when my car wasn't getting enough power to move. Each time I would give it gas, it would sputter at me. This has been a constant problem since I bought a year ago... I would like to know what the problem is so I can fix it”
NHTSA complaint #11230340, filed 2019-07, 204,246 miles“I drove to a gas station about 5 miles from my home to fuel up. After fueling up, I tried to start the engine and it ran rough for less than a second and then shut off. I tried to start it again and it ran but had a loud knock so I immediately shut the engine off. I towed it to the local dealership who said I had a dropped valve seat and would need to replace the engine. The odometer was at 106,000 miles when this happened.”
