“This is the 4th time that the car has shut off while driving and cannot move the steering wheel to pull over to the side of the road. The big rig truck behind us almost crashed into the car due to the engine shutting off while we are traveling with the flow of traffic. With the engine shutting off, the steering wheel is locked making it impossible to get out of the way of other vehicles. The car eventually reduces speed down to a halt. I have to place the Jeep in park and restart the ignition. …”
NHTSA complaint #10633724, filed 2014-09, 93,274 miles“Vehicle has turned off multiple times at highway speeds causing near fatal collisions, dash board would light up completely and blink on and off as if the key were turned off and on. We make sure that there is sufficient clearance from the key to our knees and we have never accidentally hit the ignition. We have had this happen approx. 15-20 times over the last year and the most recent time last week with both our 8 and 9 year olds in the vehicle on the highway. We need some help on resolving this issue and we are afraid that we will have an accident if this continues to happen.”
NHTSA complaint #10691760, filed 2015-03, 75,000 miles“I was beginning to accelerate out of a right turn and noticed that I was not picking up speed and the car started to shake. I tried to speed up to the flow of traffic and the accelerator was not working and the steering wheel kept shaking and had to pull over to the side of the road. I noticed that all the gears on the dash were lit up, from park to drive and everything in between. I decided to shut off the engine and start it again. The car was fine but did it again on 2 separate occasions. Thank goodness I was not on the freeway and there was not a lot of traffic.”
NHTSA complaint #10534481, filed 2013-08, 75,000 miles“After taking the Jeep commander in to a dealer ship to get recall NHTSA campaign number 13v175000 fixed the vehicle has been wanting to turn off at random. It has happened while in park or even driving the vehicle. The 1st time it happen, I was accelerating while getting on the high way and I was going about 40 MPH and the engine lost all power and it was hard to steer. It lasted about 4 sec and then stopped. The next time it happen was going down the high way about 65 MPH with the cruise on and it did the same thing and the last time it did it the vehicle was parked. …”
NHTSA complaint #10541830, filed 2013-09, 46,900 miles“We have major leaks in both side rails right above the dash board. We noticed the leaks a couple of days after our car was delivered. It rains a lot in alaska, so basically our car leaks about everyday! We had taken our vehicle into two different dealers and one dealer said he could not find where the leak is coming from and the other dealer said to bring it back in the summer because it is frozen outside, since we took the vehicle in around october! I can't believe a car that is brand new has leaks! …”
