2007: “The front sub-frame (drivers side) of my daughters car broke. Thankfully she was just pulling up to a stop light leaving a college campus when it broke and not on the highway or moving fast. The piece just snapped. I see there is an issue with some of the 2007 compass where they extended the warranty but it does not apply to our VIN number for some reason. This is a huge safety issue.”
NHTSA complaint #11171877, filed 2019-01, 140,000 miles2008: “The rear end was making a clunking noise. Took it into a mechanic who informed me the rear frame was rusted through and was close to breaking. He had to secure the rear end to the frame with ratchet straps to allow me to drive it to a mechanic who could fix it. Only one bolt secured the rear end to the frame it was so damaged. Had it broken off while I was driving, I probably would have been severely injured if not killed.”
NHTSA complaint #11114425, filed 2018-07, 138,000 miles2009: “I have had my vehicle since 2010 and had concerns that I had sent to the attorney generals office less than a year after I purchased the vehicle and nothing was done. I've had the interior and exterior panel go out while driving and had to use easy care which I purchased when I purchased the vehicle. …”
