“Driving on the interstate at highway speed the red lightning bolt warning light came on, as did the check engine and traction control lights and the accelerator cut out. I was able to coast across 3 lanes to the side of the road, but this has happened three times and apparently my 2016 Patriot wasn't included in the recall that addressed this issue.”

NHTSA complaint #11322617, filed 2020-04, 62,000 miles

“' takata recall' while driving my 2016 Jeep Patriot in motion on a city street , my engine shut off and I got several lights on my dash . After putting in park the vehicle restarted , but I have a 4 year old son and I dont feel safe driving on the freeway and not knowing if my vehicle is going to stop suddenly in traffic .”

NHTSA complaint #11255150, filed 2019-09, 53,000 miles

“The electronic throttle control system warning light came on during highway travel and the vehicle slowed down due to lack of power. It happened quickly and posed a danger as I was not able to pull over immediately. The car was unable to go faster than 20mph and I had to have it towed 70 miles home. This failure has happened with only 33k miles. This sudden and early failure created a dangerous situation.”

NHTSA complaint #11376280, filed 2020-11, 33,400 miles

“I was adding gas to the Jeep and the gas spewed out because the cutoff did not work; it is not the gas station's problem because I have used the pump for my car and it cuts off when the tank is full. My son had the same problem at another gas station where there is a defect in the Jeep in that it doesn't cut off the gas when full. This needs to be addressed immediately or I am going to start a class-action lawsuit before someone gets covered in gas.”

NHTSA complaint #11101639, filed 2018-06, 49,005 miles

“When driving the engine seems to sputter, stall, jerk, rev the RPM at random when driving. It happens on the highway going 70 or in a neighborhood going 25 while driving or starting to go from a stop. It will jerk really hard like it is going to stall out but no lights come on the dash to indicate something is wrong and I have taken it into the dealership many times and they tell me it is normal, I've never had any vehicle behave this way except when I was 15 learning how to drive a manual transmission and that wasn't the fault of the vehicle. …”
