“Developed death wobble on the highway at 65 miles an hour. In researching I see chrysler says this is not a safety issue. I can assure you it is. It is a designed flaw according to the mechanics I had look at it. A very expensive repair that chrysler will not cover. I luckily somehow kept the vehicle under control despite the steering shaking uncontrollably, so bad the vehicle lifted off the road and skidded sideways.”

NHTSA complaint #11154904, filed 2018-11, 99,000 miles

“While driving I experienced shaking in my front end that cause me to pull off the off. After much research I can safely say it known as the death wobble. This problem is ridiculous and no one cares to make Jeep fix this problem. Is it going to take someone dying for you and Jeep to wake up and have this addressed. You suck and so does Jeep.”

NHTSA complaint #10630035, filed 2014-09, 10,000 miles

“While driving on interstate, I hit a small bump while making slight turn to the left. This caused the vehicle to shake violently out of control. I cannot emphasize enough how violent the shaking was... It felt as if the vehicle might actually come apart. I had to pull of the road to get it to stop. This has happened four times in the past six months. I have only owned the Jeep for a year.”

NHTSA complaint #10505247, filed 2013-04, 50,000 miles

“Driving down the highway at 65 miles per hour my 2008 Jeep rubicon starting violently shaking! We have take it to 3 garages and no one can find any problem with the vehicle. This has now happened 5 times! I understand based on my internet research this is called a death wobble! - I do not want this vehicle any longer. What can I do! We have had it for 3 months!!!!!!!”

NHTSA complaint #10384043, filed 2011-02, 62,420 miles

“Stock 2008 Jeep wrangler unlimited x. No modifications whatsoever. Death wobble. Dealer masked it by replacing the steering stabilizer. Dealer wants to charge me for inspecting the front end to find the problem and might charge me for the repairs. Death wobble is unacceptable and should be corrected by the factory free of charge.”
