“As I was stopping at local arby's restaurant for lunch, my 2008 Jeep wrangler sahara unlimited started smoking from under the hood. It smelled like electrical wires burning. It ignited before I could exit the vehicle and within a couple of minutes it was totally engulfed in flames. There were several witnesses who saw the fire. I immediately called 911 and within minutes the fire department arrived and put out the fire. The Jeep is a total loss.”

NHTSA complaint #10703999, filed 2015-04, 67,000 miles

“When taking my daughter to school, the brake pedal went to the floor. I got out and found brake fluid leaking. Closer inspection found that the driver side brake fluid hose has been rubbing against the tire - the hose was worn flat and thru on one side. I have not completed any modifications to the tires - I have the same size tires that came with the Jeep originally. The other recall for the fender rub had already been taken care of.”

NHTSA complaint #10654177, filed 2014-11, 155,000 miles

“1. Hit a bump going 55mph on the highway and experienced the death wobble. Had to hit the brakes and slow down immediate to 25 MPH. Super dangerous on the freeway. Thankfully this was a city freeway that had a speed limit of 55mph. I don't know what would've happened if I was going faster, say on an interstate where the speed limit is 80mph. 2. Whenever I fill up the gas always overflow. So each time now I have to squeeze the pump gently and hold it for the entire fill up. 3. The rear caliper sticks sometimes.”

NHTSA complaint #10991888, filed 2017-05, 51,560 miles

“I have had vehicle for 2 weeks, have driven it less than 200 miles, right rear brake locked up and would not release, when I got home wheel was hotter than fire and smoking.I replaced rear pads, they had about 3/16 of inch pad left. Piston in caliper compressed easy so put pads on and drove about 15 miles and came home only to find rt rear smoking again. I am assuming now its the emergency brake, which I have never used being an automatic.”

NHTSA complaint #10442852, filed 2012-01, 17,000 miles

“My clockspring has gone bad on my vehicle. The airbag light keeps turning on and off constantly while driving. Apparently chrysler has issued a recall for 2007 and some 2008 vehicles but I just called chrysler and they said that my vehicle was not included.”
