“Developed death wobble on the highway at 65 miles an hour. In researching I see chrysler says this is not a safety issue. I can assure you it is. It is a designed flaw according to the mechanics I had look at it. A very expensive repair that chrysler will not cover. I luckily somehow kept the vehicle under control despite the steering shaking uncontrollably, so bad the vehicle lifted off the road and skidded sideways.”
NHTSA complaint #11154904, filed 2018-11, 99,000 miles“While driving I experienced shaking in my front end that cause me to pull off the off. After much research I can safely say it known as the death wobble. This problem is ridiculous and no one cares to make Jeep fix this problem. Is it going to take someone dying for you and Jeep to wake up and have this addressed. You suck and so does Jeep.”
NHTSA complaint #10630035, filed 2014-09, 10,000 miles“Please have chrysler/Jeep fix the Jeep death wobble at their expense. They say it is because owners of Jeep wranglers modify their jeeps for off road driving and that causes the Jeep death wobble. I have not modified my Jeep and it scares me to death when it wobbles. This is chryslers problem not mine.”
NHTSA complaint #10717634, filed 2015-05, 90,000 miles“As per my ase certified mechanic has directed me. My airbag light has started turning on and off and causing the chime several times a day due to a clockspring in the steering wheel going bad. This is a known recall for previous years including the 2007 model (1yr difference). I'm afraid that in an actual crash the air bag will not deploy or that it will at any random moment.”
NHTSA complaint #10500810, filed 2013-02, 75,000 miles“While driving on interstate, I hit a small bump while making slight turn to the left. This caused the vehicle to shake violently out of control. I cannot emphasize enough how violent the shaking was... It felt as if the vehicle might actually come apart. I had to pull of the road to get it to stop. This has happened four times in the past six months. I have only owned the Jeep for a year.”
