“The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact was driving 30 MPH when the doors began to rattle abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times where the dealer replaced the door latches on each door. The contact stated that the front driver side door latch was replaced six times. The contact was concerned that the doors could open while driving due to the faulty latches. The failure mileage was 34,000.”
NHTSA complaint #10402467, filed 2011-05, 34,000 miles“The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the hood latches fractured and caused the hood to fly open and strike the windshield while driving. The contact stated there was an emergency latch to prevent the failure but the emergency latch also fractured. Whenever the vehicle was driven in windy weather, the hood would shake abnormally. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that there was no coverage for the latches on the vehicle and the vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 38,000 and the current mileage was 50,000.”
