“I was driving my Jeep Wrangler 2008 and stated shaking severely which was difficult to control. After conducting some online research I learned this is a common problem with Jeep wranglers and it's called death wobble.”

NHTSA complaint #11403160, filed 2021-03, 84,200 miles

“Vehicle started to shake at 65 MPH, ( death wobble), scared the hell out of my wife!! Replaced steering damper and link arm at repair shop- $743.00. Could have caused a serious accident. It was so bad I had it towed. Chrysler needs to fix this or someone will die!!!”

NHTSA complaint #11072361, filed 2018-02, 71,000 miles

“The death wobble!!!! When I hit a bump or pothole . I feel my Jeep is literally coming apart. My Jeep is 2008 and this has been an issue sknce we bought it anout 5 years agao. I only drive when its emergency. I will not take highways. Its absolutely terrifying. Why is there no recalls for death wobble on the Jeep 2008. This is not just a problem on newer modles. I want it fixed for free. I cant even sell it. Because people with jeeps know about it!!!”

NHTSA complaint #11243566, filed 2019-08, 50,000 miles

“Driving down highway at 50 MPH the steering wheel and the whole Jeep started shaking so bad it almost caused me to run off the road. I could only control it by bring the Jeep to a stop in the middle of a highway, very dangerous ! Checked wheel balance and suspension for wear , with found nothing. Was told it was a design feature of jeeps with coil spring front axel?”

NHTSA complaint #10505816, filed 2013-04, 40,100 miles

“Death wobble, terrible steering shimmer. Driving on highway at 55 MPH. Hit one bump on the road and all of a sudden the vehicle started shaking violently. I needed to slam on the breaks to keep the vehicle from maybe flipping over. It has happened before, but not this violent. To fix this I installed a dual steering stabilizer set up made by skyjacker.”
