“The death wobble!!!! When I hit a bump or pothole . I feel my Jeep is literally coming apart. My Jeep is 2008 and this has been an issue sknce we bought it anout 5 years agao. I only drive when its emergency. I will not take highways. Its absolutely terrifying. Why is there no recalls for death wobble on the Jeep 2008. This is not just a problem on newer modles. I want it fixed for free. I cant even sell it. Because people with jeeps know about it!!!”

NHTSA complaint #11243566, filed 2019-08, 50,000 miles

“I was proceeding down the highway at about 50 MPH and hit a slight bump in the road. The vehicle began to shake violently. I had a very difficult time keeping control and pulling to the side of the highway. I started out again and it happened 3 more times in a ten mile span. Each time, it began with a very slight uneven roadway and would not stop until I brought the vehicle to a stop.”

NHTSA complaint #10501722, filed 2013-03, 88,043 miles

“I had just driven about 1/2 mile and parked in front of my house, went inside, took a shower and gone to bed. About 30 min later I wake up hearing popping outside, my Jeep was fully engulfed. The fire appeared to have started in the compartment area or from under the floorboards. My insurance company handled the claim but after seeing all these other comments saying pretty much the same thing I would like to know why chrysler is not being held accountable.”

NHTSA complaint #10715440, filed 2015-05, 81,000 miles

“In 2009 my tipm failed and I experienced the 'possessed Jeep' condition where everything turned on (lights, turn signals, horn, radio blasting with no display). I took it to the dealer and they replaced free of charge (under 5 year warranty). In 2012 my rear brake calipers seized on both the passenger and driver side, they were glowing cherry-red after a 1 hour commute into work, perfect to start a fire if I had pulled into a gas station with some gas spilled on the ground or something. …”

NHTSA complaint #10811582, filed 2015-12, 170,000 miles

“Driving westbound on m-59 in hartland, mi I hit a very small bump in the road and the Jeep started to shudder very violently. I had to pull over to the side of the road and stop in order for the shudder to go away. After doing much research on the internet, I have now found out that this is called the death wobble and is a highly common problem that chrysler is aware of and has not done anything to let the public know of the issue.”
