“Driving my Kia in freeway about 55 MPH and unexpectedly hood open and crash my windshield, I try to drive to freeway side with the little visible space between dashboard and hood, a guy driving besides me help with the traffic so I reduce speed and hit guardrail, I damage my bumper and all right front side of my Kia, I was thinking that was my bad luck or that I didn't close hood properly. I tried to put hood in place and using an ethernet cable to secure hood and drive at 10-20 MPH to home. …”

NHTSA complaint #10911373, filed 2016-10, 3 miles

“On my cruise control when I set to certain speed, it will speed up, I had it set to 65 MPH and it sped up by itself to 85 before I could get it to go off. I had to slam on the break to get it to go off. This has happened several times. Now the car will not start all the lights will come on, but car will not do anything. Checked fuses all good, ground wire was taken loose and paint grinder off and put back on, still won't start. It started not starting every now and then and now it won't start at all. I read where this is happening to several Kia specifically 2006 .”

NHTSA complaint #11307500, filed 2020-02, 170,000 miles

“I purchased my Kia Sedona in april 2006. On average, four times a year I will press the accelerator pedal and the RPM's will go up but the vehicle will not move forward. I have to then release the accelerator pedal and press it again for it to catch and move forward. The 1st time was while on vacation in san diego in 2006. On 4-5 occasions the problem almost caused a serious accident. I have reported it several times, but since Kia cannot find a code they claim that they cannot fix the problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10322085, filed 2010-03, 1,000 miles

“Problems: air bag light on again. Has been repaired by dealer several times. Ac does not blow cold continually and has been repaired several times. New compressor, additional freon, etc. Horn malfunctioning again. Transmission problem - the vehicle bangs or slams when you come down a hill to a stop. When slowing down to a stop light it actually has a surge or acceleration. This vehicle only has 64000 on it and the brakes have been serviced several times (front and rear). …”
