“There needs to be a firmware update to the transmission shift logic or at the very least if a door is sensed as open automatically place vehicle in park. Backstory....I've owned this vehicle for 2+ years and have mistakenly placed the vehicle in reverse (via the dodge ram style prndl selector). When this happens I usually catch it before I exit the vehicle. Admittedly it has happened and I've almost been run over by my own car. This is a hugely dangerous issue.”
NHTSA complaint #11207539, filed 2019-05, 32,000 miles“After driving all day on sunday september 3 2017. It cut off when I was about to drop my friend daughter at her house. I turn it off the engine then start my truck again but wouldn't come out off park. I called roadside assistance and my truck was towed to the dealer. Two days later the mechanic called me and I was told he has to replace a part and it was a electric shortage. My truck is only a year old and it was very scary and not dependable vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #11022037, filed 2017-09, 35,000 miles“At the end of May, about 10 days after getting my car serviced at the Land Rover Manhattan location middle of May, I headed to a short trip with my family. An hour into our trip, I could hear horrible noises coming from the engine, as if the gears were grinding with the engine shaking drastically. As I tried to pull to the side of the highway to safety, smoke started coming out of the front of my car. I got my family out of the car immediately and called roadside assistance. …”

The contact stated that after an extended period, the gear shifter nob responded as needed; however, the failure reoccurred. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. NHTSA complaint #11500923, filed 2023-01, 74,000 miles“There is a fleetwide problem with the DEF system in these vehicles that is well known to the manufacturer yet they have failed to address it. The system frequently produces a DEF error which causes the vehicle to go into a shutdown mode, which can leave the occupant stranded in a dangerous situation.”
