“I noticed my vehicle was starting to drive funny. I keep up on it very well, routine maintenance, wash it often, fresh alignments, new tires when needed. So I thought something was up and took it into a garage. I was called the next day and was told I had a hole in my passenger side right subframe. I was very surprised by this because the car is very clean underneath for the year and in good condition compared to the usual new york rust. I did some research and this is a ongoing problem with these cars around my year and sadly many people have experienced this. …”
NHTSA complaint #11330730, filed 2020-06, 120,000 miles“The rear suspension of this car is weird, in that it is lower on one side. In my case, the rear right side of my car is lower and the fenders hit my wheel when I hit a dip in the road or have a passenger in the back seat. This is very dangerous because it wears out the tire and could eventually rip it open putting many on the road at risk. It is not the shocks or the springs because I replaced both of those on both sides. I have read of many cases like mine online and would like Mazda to take responsibility for this hazard.”
NHTSA complaint #10823878, filed 2016-02, 106,000 miles“I had a strange incident with my 2005 Mazda 6 s 4-cylinder automobile. I am reporting this in case there might be a pattern that results in further investigation. The context is with respect to the automobile's traction control system. I was driving on a wet road where the rain had stopped about an hour earlier. There was no standing water as the rain had been light anyway. I was on a three-lane (6-lanes total) narrow divided highway going about 45 MPH. From the middle lane, I was entering the left lane as a fast driver in that lane passed by me. …”
NHTSA complaint #10453889, filed 2012-04, 47,500 miles“My daughter and were at the top of the on-ramp for I-64 east bound, at south charleston, wv. This is a long merge lane that becomes the far-right lane on I-64. We were driving at 40 to 42 MPH, as attested to by two witnesses. A t this point we felt a left shimmy in the rear of our 2005 Mazda 6 hatchback (front wheel drive, with anti-skid brakes, and sensors to signal the other wheel if one wheel begins to slide). My daughter corrected the shift and we continued in the merge lane. Within a few seconds we experienced a violent jerk to the left in the rear of the car. …”
NHTSA complaint #10234555, filed 2008-07, 59,107 miles“The contact owns a 2005 Mazda 6. While driving at an unknown speed, several warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the tcs-off (traction control system) warning light and the ABS warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.”
