“The clutch pedal assembly has 3 cracks in it which allowed the assembly to push through the bulkhead to the engine compartment the clutch did not work properly almost causing an accident as I was unable to change gear.this is a dangerous defect which should not have occured.I think a recall should be isssued for this part to be replaced and repaired and also other damage caused by thi defect.”

NHTSA complaint #10660523, filed 2014-11, 233,638 miles

“Incident 2005 Mazda 6 broke down along side road. Engine only had 40,000 miles on it. Called Mazda service manager, bob, and he told me to have it towed there and he'd take care of me. I was later told the engine blew but as his crew looked at it they verified that the engine and oil was clean. He said he'd call regional and see what he could do for me to get the engine repaired/replaced. Damage resulting after several weeks of run around I was finally told it was going to cost $90 for the service team to have looked at the engine. …”

NHTSA complaint #10430133, filed 2011-10, 40,000 miles

“After a modest acceleration to pull into traffic, I had to stop suddenly due to a light and the car began to rev up to 1500 and back down over and over. I had to pull over immediately where it continued to rev and die down, regardless if I was in a gear or park. It is an automatic. I turned off the car and restarted, the problem went away but the engine light remained on for two days. I plan on taking to the dealer. It is only 7 months old, I bought it new.”

NHTSA complaint #10154867, filed 2006-04, 10,900 miles

“The clutch on my Mazda 6 no longer works correctly and I only have 33,248 miles on my car. Mazda USA said there's nothing they can do about it. They said before they'd even consider any help, I should take it to a Mazda dealer (17 miles from my house) and have it diagnosed ($110 for diagnostic testing). In order to get it there, I'd have to have it towed because it's so far from where I live, I'd have to pay for the tow to and from the dealership. The cost estimate for the Mazda dealer to replace my clutch is $1000-$1300. …”

NHTSA complaint #10350140, filed 2010-08, 33,248 miles

“Automatic transmission failure in 4th gear on 2005 Mazda 6. We bought the car new and 2years later the transmission started slipping in 4th gear. I complained to the dealer and they said they found nothing. The third year it became pronounced and still they said they found nothing. I found out last year that Mazda knew about the problem in the transmissions and never contacted us about a replacement transmission. I went to the dealership when I found out late last year and I was told that they could no do anything about it as the car was over the mileage. …”
