“My vehicle died while I was driving at a low speed into a parking lot. I found out the issue is the positive terminal of the car battery is loose, so the battery cuts in and out. Also, since the positive terminal is loose, the battery acid spills out and corrodes the cable. I have since replaced my battery with a new Mazda car battery, and my mechanic tightened the positive terminal by inserting a metal coin (since the battery harness part has been discontinued). …”
NHTSA complaint #10944459, filed 2017-01, 103,291 miles“I own a 2005 Mazda 6 I sedan. After owning my car for 7 months it has turned off 3 times while driving. Once I was on the highway the other two times I was at a stop. I have taken it to the dealership twice to have the problem examined and no problem has been found. My car has received all of the scheduled maintenance. Yet the problem still occurs. When the car stalls it usually starts again immediately however I don't think a new car should have this problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10153262, filed 2006-03, 2,000 miles“I purchased a new Mazda 6 in 2005. Since then I have had to replace the battery 3 times. Each time the battery went out with no warning. It would be driving fine, I would park and get out. When returning to the car, it will not turn at all. Internal and external lights and radio worked fine but car will not turn. The first two times the battery was jumped and the car was taken to a Mazda dealership and replaced under the Mazda battery manufacturer warranty because they went out before the 36 month warranty. The last time in august of 2010, the battery will not jump. …”
NHTSA complaint #10357032, filed 2010-09, 98,844 miles“I was reading this complaint section and noticed that there was someone complaining about the same issues I was having. I own a 2005 MAZDA6 sedan sport -- it has died three times on me, for no apparent reason. Once at a stop sign, again at a metering light on the freeway and then again in the middle of a busy intersection in san francisco. I have documented all three incidents and have brought to the dealership, but they never really found anything wrong -- but obviously something is wrong if my brand new car dies. …”
NHTSA complaint #10155322, filed 2006-04, 10,000 miles“Takata recall. The contact owns a 2005 Mazda 6. While driving 35 MPH, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning. The brake pedal was depressed to the floor, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact mentioned that the vehicle accelerated up to 50 MPH and stopped after the emergency brake was engaged and the ignition key was removed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. …”
