“I was driving with my 7 year old in my 2005 Mazda 6 when I noticed the car was accelerating on its own just a little bit. I didn't think much of it at the time. About 2 minutes later the rpms went up and down 3 times( 1000 rpms each time). Immediately after that, my brakes stopped working while I was going about 35 MPH. I had the brake pedal floored and it barely stopped in time. I managed to stop with my emergency brake and put on my hazard lights for a few minutes while the car was still running. …”

NHTSA complaint #10614668, filed 2014-07, 75,200 miles

“At 28,000 mi I had to replace the front brakes on my Mazda 6 sport wagon--right side at 4, left side at 1. I went to three different places--they all said the wear was incredibly uneven due to a fault with the brakes. My (no longer) Mazda dealer sil-tehar in co said the difference was within their acceptable limits. Obviously, I didn't take the car to the dealer for service. The people who did service it found a part missing--a clip that helps the pad separate from the wheel. The only people who had actually taken the brakes apart (until the replacement) was the dealer. …”

NHTSA complaint #10196540, filed 2007-07, 27,600 miles

“Takata recall. The contact owns a 2005 Mazda 6. While driving 35 MPH, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning. The brake pedal was depressed to the floor, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact mentioned that the vehicle accelerated up to 50 MPH and stopped after the emergency brake was engaged and the ignition key was removed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. …”

NHTSA complaint #10881324, filed 2016-06, 200,000 miles

“At 42,000 miles, I started to experience incredible vibrations when applying the brakes. According to the repair shop, the rotors were warped to the point that they had to be replaced, they couldn't be resurfaced or evened up-something like that. .”

NHTSA complaint #10196543, filed 2007-07, 38,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2005 Mazda 6. While driving at an unknown speed, several warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the tcs-off (traction control system) warning light and the ABS warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.”
