Example complaints

Electrical system: “The collision prevention assist module warning light came on. Collision assist was inoperative. This can lead to loss of acceleration and braking. I took the vehicle to local dealership, mercedes benz of arcadia, who performed a software update and charged $205.oo. This is a safety issue and should be a recall and free of charge. When the error message came on my wife was on the freeway. She panicked and pulled over to the shoulder. Restarting the engine did not solve the problem. She drove home slowly whereupon we went to the dealership.”

NHTSA complaint #11301462, filed 2020-01, 25,000 miles

Steering: “The vehicle has been in the dealer six times in a four month period of time. Most problems were related to electronics. Head unit center console made a loud a ball rolling around noise with 24 hours of buying the car. Radio would intermittently work. Clock would not keep time. These three items have been replaced. Steering wheel would not keep memory. Engine cooling fan would run for hours after vehicle was turned off and parked. There was an oil leak on front passenger side. Front trim panel for bumper was not aligned.”

NHTSA complaint #10734642, filed 2015-07, 50 miles

Brakes: “Rear brake lines rusted out on top of rear subframe which is rusting out and caused immediate brake failure . Our lives and the lives of other were at risk because we were driving on highway and suddenly brakes went to floor and had complete loss of brakes There were no prior warnings no way to prevent this ...i see there is a recall on the subframe but not on the brake lines even though ive now read of this happening to many people”

NHTSA complaint #11665460, filed 2025-06

Body and structure: “Since we have had this vehicle (2017) we had come to hear a loud cracking of the pano roof when turning (say from a gas station or side shop) and over the years it has become louder and louder until it is constant. It is such that we hear it all the time in warm/hot weather (like now, at the time of reporting); discussions and research has told us it is a serious problem in that the roof could give way (albeit, explode?). Are their any TSB bulletins on this issue? Thank you for your consideration of this matter. …”
