“I was issued a warning by local police that my left rear taillight was not working. This is an LED array that has been replaced once before. On investigation, I observed that the taillight only works intermittently, and will flicker on and off when the headlights are on. Further, there is no brightness difference between braking and non braking intensity.”
NHTSA complaint #10689968, filed 2015-02, 25,000 miles“We purchased this vehicle new in 2010. In 2012 we noticed flickering in left rear tail light assembly, which was intermittent, this occurred at approximately 40,000 miles. In october 2014 at approximately 83,000 miles we noticed that when the head lights were turned on that the brake lights stayed on constantly even when the brakes were not applied.”
NHTSA complaint #10651845, filed 2014-11, 40,000 miles“I bought this car used as I am 72 and can't afford a new one. I just found out the tail light is out and called the dealer and they said it would cost $1200.00 to repair. Is ford joking with this kind of light. I guess I'll just take tickets when I'm stopped.”
NHTSA complaint #11278478, filed 2019-11, 40,000 miles“The passenger side LED brake light assembly is constantly illuminated as if the brakes are applied but they are not. Makes a safety hazard as it is distracting to drivers that are following and they may misjudge my braking. This is the second assembly that I have had go faulty. The first was the day I bought it but the dealer replaced the $400 part for free.”
NHTSA complaint #10619181, filed 2014-08, 53,000 miles“Someone noticed my rear passenger tail light on my 2010 Mercury Milan was abnormally bright and that brake light did not work. So I investigate and find that I have to replace the whole assembly instead of just a bulb. Omg. I have been a loyal ford owner since 1985. The cost to replace is over $600? Unbelievable. This is a safety issue and should be recalled.”
