“When braking to slow down or get to a stop the brake pedal pressed down but the car didn't seem to stop as quick as it should have. A while later, when having to brake quickly, the car hit another vehicle infront of it. The accident took place on a city road. No police report was filed because the other car's bumper had minor damage unlike my car which the front & hood of has substantial damage.the repair estimate for me was about 4k dollars which is higher than I can afford.”

“I have a 2010 Mercury Milan this car has been in the shop many times the transmission was slipping it has left me in the middle of an intersection and the last straw was 3 weeks ago when the transmission kicked in when I was turning it popped my neck and I hit a curb. I do not feel safe in the car. One time the gas pedal stuck and I had to reach down and pull out my floor mat. Also trim parts just fall off of this thing.”

NHTSA complaint #10335336, filed 2010-06, 7,400 miles

“My driver door inside handle is inoperative. I have to open door from outside handle. This means either someone has to open door for me from outside, or I roll down my windows to pull on the handle. The lock / unlock electronic button works, as well as the manual lock/unlock handle on the driver's door. However, this only allows locking latch (on the side of the door, see picture) to be able to release. So what happens if I am in an accident and the window is broken or I am in a panic to get out? I can't get out of the car by myself. …”

NHTSA complaint #10885786, filed 2016-07, 80,600 miles

“I had just dropped my wife off at the door of the high school and went to park the car. As I was pulling into the parking space, I put my foot on the brake. Instead of slowing down to park, the car accelerated as if I had my foot to the floor on the accelerator. It happened so fast. I hit a concrete post. The car was still accelerating after I hit the post until I took my foot off of the brake. I then put my foot back on the brake and shifted the car into reverse. It worked like it should have. Nobody was hurt. The car had almost $3000 worth of damage. …”

NHTSA complaint #10503976, filed 2013-03, 13,300 miles

“Interior component of interior driver's door handle snapped preventing driver from opening the door while inside the car. This plastic connector broke when operator placed standard force on handle to open the door.”
