“I was driving my 2010 Milan on the highway when it suddenly lost power, I was able to coast off the road. After trying for approximately 45 min I was able to start it and drive it home. About 2 weeks later it did the same thing as I was pulling out of a parking space. Both times I narrowly avoided being rearended.”

NHTSA complaint #10851966, filed 2016-03, 82,000 miles

“I was driving on a local road. Suddenly the car lost power and the wrench light was on. It could only go very slowly before I parked it on the roadside. I waited for several minutes and started the engine, then everything seemed just fine and the wrench light went off. After the trip I tried to connect obdii code reader but cannot get any error code.”

NHTSA complaint #10547466, filed 2013-10, 40,323 miles

“While accelerating, the car began to jerk violently and came to a stop, and shut off. The car was unable to run or idle. It was towed to a ford dealership where they diagnosed a failed throttle body and it was replaced. I was on a residential road so no injuries, had I been on the highway, things would have been different.”

NHTSA complaint #10641918, filed 2014-10, 46,000 miles

“I was driving about 40 miles per hour and then all of the sudden the car stop working properly. The wrench lit up on the dashboard. I decided to pull to the side and turn off the car. After turning off the car, I turned it on again and I was able to drive for about 4 miles. Then, when it was time to drive it up a hill, it did the same.”

NHTSA complaint #10556748, filed 2013-12, 41,800 miles

“While driving on the freeway at 55mph the orange wrench symbol lit up on the dashboard and the car started to lose power. The engine kept running, but there was no response when I pushed on the gas pedal. I was able to coast to the side of the road. I turned the car off for 5 minutes and then restarted it and the power returned enough to get me to a ford dealer.”
