Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Towed my car to the local shop and found out that the radiator has an internal crack and leaked into the transmission. Burned out the TCM and now I am going to have to pay more than $5000 to get it fixed. Called Nissan and was told I needed to replace the radiator and transmission. Not happy about this at all.”

NHTSA complaint #10730263, filed 2015-06, 123,500 miles

“Dealership reported timing system is faulty, class action lawsuit has been filed in california and washington. Fuel gauge will not read correctly and I was informed that the recall does not include my specific vehicle however all problems and year/make match recalled vehicles.”

NHTSA complaint #10947023, filed 2017-01, 120,000 miles

“The coolant has leaked into the transmission costing me thousands of dollars in repair. This has been a known problem by Nissan and they could have recalled the vehicle years ago but have not done so costing unsuspecting citizens like me huge bills to repair my Pathfinder. Vehicle had to be left in a parking lot overnight for fear of causing more damage to the vehicle's engine and I had to walk home at night.”

NHTSA complaint #10849648, filed 2016-03, 100,006 miles

“I have a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder that started making loud rumbling noises while driving. We replaced the radiator after the car over heated and a milky substance leaked. We've had the transmission flushed twice. We were told by a mechanic that the radiator liquid mixed into the transmission. I'm very disappointing to find that there are so many others with the same issue and that Nissan is doing nothing to help.”

NHTSA complaint #10716068, filed 2015-05, 98,000 miles

“Transmission failed in february 2017 from antifreeze mixing with the transmission fluid. I did not know this had been an issue with the 2005-2010 models until I researched the problem after it occurred.”

NHTSA complaint #10984510, filed 2017-05, 257,000 miles
