“Vehicle rapidly accelerated on its own after I slowed down the vehicle to park in my garage. I heard an engine revving noise prior to the vehicle suddenly accelerating. It went through the back of my garage, over the deck and fiinally was stopped upon impact with a tree stump in the backyard. Side air bags deployed but front did not.”

The contact stated while operating the vehicle, there was an abnormal fuel odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to the local service center which diagnosed that the mass air flow sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The mass air flow sensor was replaced, and the acceleration failure was corrected; however, the fuel odor remained inside the cabin of the vehicle. …”
