“For several weeks I have noticed strong smell of gasoline when my car is parked in my garage. Today, I called my Nissan dealer because I am very concerned. The service advisor informed me that they have received many similar complaints and Nissan is supposedly trying to identify and remedy the problem. He said my car is safe, but I am terribly concerned.”

NHTSA complaint #11499442, filed 2022-12

“My 2022 Nissan Rouge S model began experiencing a strong gas smell inside the vehicle. Upon further inspection of the oil dipstick it smells heavily of gas. It has been to the dealership twice with absolutely no help or answers. It has also caused my engine oil levels to rise. I am concerned not only from a monetary stand point but more importantly from a safety standpoint i.e. engine stalls, fires etc.”

NHTSA complaint #11619989, filed 2024-10

“While driving an alert appeared on the dash stating engine malfunction. Speed was reduced instantly which was dangerous as I was driving at high speeds on the freeway with traffic behind me. The accelerator wouldn’t work and I had to immediately pull over.”

NHTSA complaint #11745189, filed 2026-06

“Our vehicle stalled once while idle at an ATM. Upon restart we brought it to our local mechanic for investigation, they diagnosed the issue as a Turbo Sensor problem costing about $700. They recommended bringing it to Nissan for further review rather than charge us for the repair. We picked up the vehicle the next day and brought it to our local Nissan dealership where they confirmed it was in face the turbo causing the issue. …”

NHTSA complaint #11654263, filed 2025-04

“My Vehicle has 3,700 miles on it and i have smelled a very intense fuel smell in the cabin of the vehicle at least 6 times mostly when the interior fan is not set to recirculate the air, i took the vehicle to my local nissan service center and they could find no issues but said this is a complaint that others have also made. I am concerned that there could be a fire from the fumes that are being released.”
